Das Herodion ist 'C'-Gebiet (nach der Aufteilung des Osloverträge: A ist unter palästinensischer Autorität, B geteilte Verwaltung, C wird von Israel kontrolliert; palästinensische Städte sind A Gebiet, Siedlungen C, palästinensische Dörfer B oder C). Da das Herodion als Nationalpark deklariert ist, muss man auch Eintritt an Israels Natur- und Parkagentur bezahlen. Er wurde zwischen 24 und 15 vor Christus gebaut und reicht mit vielen Gängen und Tunneln bis zum Boden runter. -- On the mountain top. It looks as if the palace or the fortress was built into the mountain. However, most of the mountain was built around the palace. It was built between 24 and 15 BC and reaches with hallways and tunnels all the way down to the ground.
